Work at the PAC

If You Really Want to Learn Something, Teach It

Besides being a place that you can go to get help with assignments, the PAC can also be a great place to work as a PAC consultant. If you have any thoughts of going into teaching or have a real nack for programming that you want to share with others, we would love to talk with you!

There are three support levels with you are asked to choose from when starting at the PAC. You can choose as many or as few languages as you are willing to commit to, but PAC consultants must commit to level 2 support for at least one supported course. The support levels are as follows:

[Level 1] Language Consultants
Language consultants have a familiarity with the supported language, but not necessarilly with the assignments or solutions for the corresponding course(s).
[Level 2] Assignment Consultants
Assignment consultants must be familiar with the next assignment that is due in the course, and should be comfortable enough with the language to do the programs for that course as well.
[Level 3] Lead Consultants
Lead consultants are expected to know not just the language and the assignments, but also learn what the solution for the assignments are supposed to look like. This can come either from experience taking the course, or by spending additional time working with materials provided by the instructor for the course. This is our highest level of support offered for a class. (TA's operate at this level for their respecitve courses!)

The PAC looks to hire qualified individuals a few weeks after the start of each semester, and PAC employment can be used towards work study. We are looking for people who have experience with Java, C, PHP/MySQL, and VB.NET, but we have a particular need right now for VB (VisualBasic) consultants. If you are interested in working at the PAC, please do not hesitate to contact Matt Plumlee at mdp@cs.unh.edu to discuss employment opportunities in more depth.
