What is the PAC?

The University of New Hampshire Programming Assistance Center is a support center for students taking early programming classes in the Computer Science (CS) department. Here students can recieve help on assignments from the class TAs or from peer tutors (students who have taken similar courses in the past). We're not here to do your programs for you, but we will help you with finding bugs and with helping you understand what you need to make progress on your program. Below is a description of the services that we provide, all of these are free to students.

Drop-in Help

By far the biggest use students find for the PAC is help on weekly assignments for classes. Both peer tutors and TAs (we refer to them collectively as consultants) are on staff each day of the week to provide students with guidance as to how to correct minor issues in their programs. It is recommended that students plan ahead: drop-in help is very heavily utilized in the afternoons and evenings, and so is often only available in shorter ~10 minute bursts.

Tutoring:

When students feel that standard drop-in help is not enough, tutoring on a one to one basis is available for all of the classes we support. Typically, students are paired with a consultant for the class and meet for one hour, at a time that works for both of them. The focus can be working on concepts, assignments, or whatever else the student feels needs to be worked on to improve their ability to work on their own.
