Employment Opportunity at Research Computing and Instrumentation - Morse Hall

School year:  Part-time hours

Summers: Full-time hours

Seeking:  Highly motivated first or second year undergraduate students, with career interests in computer science.  This position is for full year employment, including semesters and semester breaks. RCI is located in Morse Hall, (adjacent to Kingsbury Hall), Room 338. Student Operators will learn and apply many skills including:

• Unix/Linux workstation and server setup/administration.
• Macintosh and Windows system setup/administration.
• Network administration.
• Database (Oracle/MS Access/SQL Server) design/development.
• Windows C++/C#/Dot Net Development.
• Web/Mod-Perl/DBI/CGI/PHP/JSP/WebSphere HTML design.
• System Backup/Tape Library administration.
• Unix C/C++ application development.
• Unix application support.
• Customer relations.

Students will gain valuable firsthand experience working with the guidance of our staff on current networking and computer technologies. No experience is necessary or required; applicants must have a demonstrable desire to learn and work both independently and as a member of a team.
