Job Description: This challenging position requires using your software design, development and debugging skills to support, improve and add new features to the software which controls our line of laser micromachining equipment. · Learn our existing code base and how our customers use our machines to perform manufacturing operations. · Become an active and integral part of the Software Engineering team. · Work with IPG engineers, managers and customers to quantify and write specifications for new features. · Apply Geometry and Trigonometry to practical engineering problems. · Develop software to IPG coding standards and quality requirements. · Plan develop, and execute experimental test programs. · Analyze test data and reports to determine if a design meets functional and performance specifications. · Occasional international travel to customer sites to diagnose problems and implement machine improvements.

Job Skills: BSCE, BSEE, BSME, BSCS or equivalent, MS preferred. · Strong software development and logic skills. · Understanding of basic Object Oriented Design principles. · Good understanding of at least one Object Oriented Language (VB, C#, C++, Java, etc.). · Strong debugging skills at an overall system level (software, electrical and mechanical). · Strong organizational skills. · Ability to read, understand, debug & improve existing code. · Experience with Personal Computers and common peripherals. Experience Desired (not required) · 3 years professional experience coding VB6 or C#. · Developing automated manufacturing equipment, especially semiconductor industry (SEMI standards, SECS/GEM, etc.). · Experience using a PC to interface with external sensors and control peripheral devices via vendor SDK, serial or TCP/IP communications. · Machine vision (Dalsa/Sapera/Sherlock, Cognex, Matrox). · Motion control systems (Galil, Delta Tau)
