Frequently Asked Questions

As you explore the Internet and the World Wide Web, you will quite likely encounter documents called FAQs. This is an acronym that stands for Frequently Asked Questions, and, as that name implies, these documents are commonly used to collect answers to questions which are asked often.

For the purposes of our course work, I have decided to start collecting such questions and their answers here for the benefit of my students (past, present, and future). If you have an idea for something that you would like to see on this page, please let me know by e-mail at amgilder@cs.unh.edu.

Directory of questions

Is it permissible to use XHTML tools such as Dreamweaver, Frontpage and other WYSIWYG editors?

In this course, the emphasis is on the Web design process and the final results of the implementation. You may use any tools you find helpful and appropriate to move your designs to the implementation phase. I will not, however, be teaching any particular software applications as course material.

Can I do my course work from my computer at home (or work)?

Of course! You may do your coursework on any computer systems that are available to you and have the necessary capabilities (software, Internet connection, etc.). You are also welcome to use the publicly available computer clusters on campus.

How is the course graded?

There are two things you need to know to answer this question, and both are incorporated into other parts of this presentation. First, you need to know the weightings applied to the various responsibilities you will need to fulfill throughout the semester. And second, you should read the note describing how I determine final letter grades.

If you still have questions on the grading process after reviewing these two resources, please let me know.
